Winter Lawn Care: What You Need to Know

Winter in the Seattle area is typically filled with wind, rain and a little snow and ice. Though we might prefer to hibernate and ignore our yards, lawn care is important in winter too. Here are a few tips to keep your lawn healthy this season:

  • Pick up any leaves or debris covering the grass. Ignoring them could create “dead spots” on your lawn.
  • For lawns with pH issues, treat your lawn with lime and other additives. A local lawn specialist can advise you on what is needed and when.
  • Late winter is a great time to aerate your lawn. The small holes made in the grass will allow for deeper root growth and allow nutrients to get directly to your grass’s roots, giving you a fuller, thicker lawn.
